just ordered by first terabyte hard drive (meaning 1000GB). i remember first hearing the term in 8th grade from a fellow nerd so it went from an abstract term to reality in ten years. in case you were wondering my video projects took up 50GB in 06, 100GB in 07 and 120GB in 08. just by itself that takes up enough space to upgrade. at this point documents, pictures and music take an almost inconsequentia. also it seems like i always spend between $100-125 on hard drives. The 1TB external cost that much, as did the 500gb internal, the 250gb external, the 60gb internal etc. do you guys think video will be the sole determination of how much hard drive space you need or will something else come up? (like 3D video etc.)

out of the videos i haven't blogged yet i would recommend netzer's new video for the song entropy.

my adventures in the country jordan! i spent 5 days and saw all the main sites. i went to wadi rum (which is a place with many beautiful natural wonders), petra as well at mt. nebo (where moses looked over israel). at night you could definitely see jerusalem (not that far away) but also as far as tel aviv.

riding the bus in jerusalem- by swapping out the music (a loop made of music by my friend ken lane) it becomes a serene couple of minutes. of course the bus was extremely packed if i put my camera in the very front of the bus and no one cared.

david and aaron files- the forbidden garage- in 2002 i made a bunch of silly videos with david castle and my brother aaron. we recently found the old vhs tape and i digitized it. this is probably the funniest sketch and it also has james kelley and remy in it.

oh! how i hate to get up in the morning- i like the classic song and then happen to catch some video that i thought went really well with it. the song goes on for way too long so don't feel like you have to watch the whole video.

Manna from Heaven! (the best short film I've been a part of)

Most of you that read my blog have seen my Biblical comedy short called Manna From Heaven. This was shot in the Israeli desert outside of Jerusalem. I had gotten together with my friends Jose and Arielle and together we wrote the story. It is a story of Moses leading the Hebrews through the desert when they run out of food. Will G-d provide food for the Hebrews? And that probably won't be the end of the story...

We did the shoot in a long day. (see the preparations for the day here). The day was a lot of fun. We drove out, shot the first half of the film in one location, went to the springs at Ein Gedi for lunch and swimming, shot the second half of the film in a different location and then went to the Dead Sea before sunset. A very fun day and the making of manna from heaven video is definitely worth watching too. I then edited it in Israel a few hours at a time during the last couple weeks I was in Jerusalem. I also found excellent music I could use legally as well as debuting a new Netzer song. (also I put two of the best clips from the video as separate files if you want to watch them over and over: 1 2)

short story written in 4th grade

Editor's note: I recently came across this unpublished work by David Kasdan, written in 1994 (age 9). It is the second of a 3-story series that is about children who handle three different disasters. This story, like others, is filled with plot holes, poor understanding of the rules of physics, bad grammar, an abrupt ending and questionable dialogue. I am currently selling the movie rights.

Hurricane Andrew

Chapter 1 A time machine

"Mom, we've gotta win first place for Inventors Showcase." said Aaron. "That's about the only way to earn money for a new home!"

To Aaron, the "permanent" hotel they were leaving in was nothing compared to old house that was destroyed by the earthquake. Their room had two beds, one bathroom, a small kitchen, and a living room. Aaron had been trying to get money for the new house. On his way home from school he say a sign saying:

3. 1ST PLACE 5000

2ND PLACE 3000

4TH PRIZE 500

When Aaron came home he wanted to make a time machine. "Why don't you ask Alice to help you? I'm busy." said Mom. "It won't work!" said Aaron. "I don't think it we'll ever work" said Alice. "Anyway, lets get some sleep. We'll try it in the morning."

That night, Andrew slipped out of his bed, as he usually does, to get a drink. When he went across the floor he accidently pushed a wrench in the machine. There was some squeaks. Andrew quickly left. The dial on the time machine said:

Takeoff time: 14:43

Place: Miami, Florida

Time era: 1992

Events around that time: Hurricane Andrew

Chapter 2: Hurricane Andrew

That morning, they stepped inside. "Interesting... It looks a little different" said Aaron. "It looks different to me to." Then they noticed the dial then. "8:43 ... isn't that right no-"

They went back in time. It was short since it a few years. Once they reached Miami Aaron said, "There's Miami now". Alice said, "But what about Hurricane Andrew?"

"I almost forgot. Lets get inside before the hurricane will strike.”

They came in time to hear on the radio:

HURRICANE HEADED FOR MIAMI, FLORIDA

ESTIMATED ARRIVAL: 5 MIN.

CLEAR BEACH AREA

Aaron said, "Why don't we go across the somewhat short strait to an island. We have enough time, and there's better protection.

So they went across using their time-machine. Note though, that this machine won't work while wet.

That was when Hurricane Andrew struck. It caused a tidal wave to come towards them. Aaron and Alice had a hard time and they pulled up the protection gear, just in time.

Chapter 3:

The hurricane was soon over, but they were in the middle of the ocean, on top of a time machine. After several hours of floating, there caught sight of land. They walked along the shores trying to see what they could see.

When they walked back they tried the time machine again, but this time it did not work.

"It think the water had destroyed the machine permanently" said Aaron.

That night Aaron had a dream. He dreamed that he was back with his mom and Andrew. Alice had the same dream.

When they woke up, they had a breakfast of coconut milk, and coconut meat. Then they set off for the inland part of the island.

Chapter 4: Volcano!

As they traveled north/northwest and soon they saw a volcano. The volcano started to make noises, like an eruption and then the volcano erupted. They ran and just before they reached the time machine lava hit a tree and landed on the machine. Aaron picked up the tree and they went back in time.

Chapter 5: The contest:

They came back, celebrated a little, made a good display, and entered the time machine (called THE NEW AND AWESOME TIME MACHINE).

There would be 4 rounds: City, part of state (Southern, Northern, Eastern, Western), state, part of country (W, S, N, E) and country (Only U.S.). They easily won the city prize. Now they were against "Spaghetti Fork" and "The automatic Sewing Machine". "Spaghetti Fork" was 1-1. "The Automatic sewing Machine" was 3-1. Aaron and Alice won with a record of 4-0.

Three days passed for the rest of the contestants to finish and a day for the first games and another for the second. Here are the three players and there records.

Aaron and Alice had a party at my house since I was the Western champion, and my friends were going to watch the U.S champion.

The grading for the final round was different. They were graded in categories (effort, usefulness, carefulness and display) by points (up to 1000). The time machine was first. It scored like so:

East and North (We are representing South) were disqualifies because they didn't work that time. When they added up the scores of the other person they got 1000 points (incling bonus) in effort, 650 in usefulness, and 1000 in carefulness. This so far added up to 2,650. They anounced that. They was silence. Then they said there was 600. Aaron and Alice went wild! They had won by a mere 50 points! Later, the judges wanted to hear there adventure.

Monday is Shavuot, a Biblical holiday. Me and my friends went around downtown Jerusalem asking people about the various meanings of the holiday. Here is what they thought of Shavuot:

Obviously it doesn't have all the info. The wikipedia article is information overload to me. This Jewish website seems pretty good. This holiday is known as Pentecost by Christians but as you can tell traditions changed.

(There wasn't much I could do about the sound since we realized the mike was sortof broken. After some editing work it sounds ok. Music is by my band Netzer.)
